DO Recruitment are delighted to be retained as recruitment partner for a very successful
Construction business based in the East Midlands. They are one of the most respected and
recognised brands in its sector and they now seek to appoint a Business Development Manager.
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will have overall responsibility for business development,
in order to provide tendering opportunities of the right type, size, value and location to ensure each
company has sufficient potential workload to achieve and if possible, exceed the annual budget
requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Produce a Business Development and Marketing Strategy report at the beginning of each
trading year to meet the requirements of the business and present to the Directors for
approval.
• Regularly review actual business development and marketing opportunities to ensure they
are in line with the strategy. Provide quarterly reports/updates to Directors on progress
against the agreed strategy with recommendations to amend the strategy or improve
performance against the same.
• Attend the Tender Review Meeting to report on imminent tender opportunities and provide
advice/input to the bid team on current tenders.
• Attend the Group Marketing Meeting to review and report on current and future business
development, marketing and tender opportunities with the Directors.
• Compile Potential Enquiry/Opportunity Reports for circulation to the Directors.
• Arrange appointments and visit potential Clients and consultants, such as Architects, Project
Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers and M&E, who may have an influence in the
decision-making process when compiling tender lists.
• Ensure PQQ and Capability Documents and general marketing literature are completed to
the best standard and presented to the Director prior to submission.
• Provide support and input to the Head of Pre-Construction and the Bid Manager on bid
submissions, including generation of content as required.
• Develop new and existing relationships with Clients through regular visits and corporate
hospitality invitations.
• Follow up on all potential enquiries identified in the regional operating areas, via the various
sources available e.g. visits, leads, planning registers, telephone calls, press and via written
means, to source opportunities to tender/negotiate projects.
• Take overall responsibility for the CRM system and ensure it is updated on a regular basis
(weekly).
• From the CRM system compile reports on clients/consultants visited, for circulation to
Directors.
Ideal Candidate:
 Has extensive business development experience gained within the construction sector with
a specific understanding of competitive tenders and frameworks.
